Measles: South Sudan reports 400 cases in one week

In the last week of March 400 cases of measles were recorded in South Sudan in what Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has labelled a crisis.
Since 2022, 12 000 cases have been reported in the country which has “alarmingly low” vaccination coverage. MSF has urged health authorities and the World Health Organization to launch an immediate vaccination campaign.
MSF teams are currently treating measles cases in Nzara and Yambio counties, where 20% of children affected are over the age of 5.
