Former general practitioner and primary care researcher Dublin (b London 1961; q Trinity College Dublin 1984; MRCPI, MRCGP), died from breast cancer on 25 November 2002.

After working as a GP principal in east London, serving a socially and ethnically mixed population, Fiona Bradley returned to Dublin to work in a deprived inner city community devastated by intravenous drug use. She contributed to studies of HIV and hepatitis B and C infection among the Irish prison population, which led to changes in the health care of prisoners in Ireland. Later taking up post as a principal in general practice in the deprived area of Ballymun, her keen eye turned to domestic violence as her next major research interest. Her groundbreaking work became the basis of her doctorate in medicine and was published in the BMJ (2002;324:271). She leaves a partner, Gráinne.
