Euro MPs vote on research fund for neglected diseases

Tackling HIV/AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis in developing countries needs coordinated research funding from the European Union's member states and the private sector, suggests a proposal that was due before the European parliament on Thursday.
If the proposal is ratified by MEPs, the parliament will support calls from the European Commission for an EU “neglected diseases” research fund, seen as a companion to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria.
