Deal brokered for free online access to NHS research

Under the terms of a new deal between the NHS and the online publisher Biomed Central, NHS staff will be able to place research papers on an open access website without having to pay a fee.
The move is part of a growing trend to loosen the stranglehold of medical science publishers, through licensing and online viewing fees for research published in their journals, on access to science.
