Extra funds announced to fight cancer in Europe

The European Union will spend £400m (£253m; $392m) on cancer research over the next four years, it was announced at a recent one day cancer conference in Brussels.
The move is part of efforts to fight a disease that kills 750000 people in the European Union every year. The funds will be targeted primarily at practical measures designed to break down compartmentalised national systems and help to create a European focus on cancer research.
