Electronic monitoring improves control in asthma

Electronic diary spirometers promote high levels of adherence to monitoring in people with poorly controlled asthma. Reddel and colleagues (p 146) found that the median overall adherence to electronic monitoring in 61 such patients was 89% over 72 weeks. This may be because the participants were aware that data were being stored and used to guide treatment. According to the authors, user friendly design features increase the frequency of any product being used.
