Income inequality is not associated with chronic health conditions

Family income and level of education are strongly related to the prevalence of chronic health conditions and specific mental health disorders, but there is no such association between these conditions and income inequality. Sturm and Gresenz (p 20) found that only self reported overall health was significantly associated with inequality at the population level. However, this association disappeared after individual health factors were adjusted for.
