US moves to tighten law on health supplements

    US lawmakers are looking into imposing tighter regulations on the dietary supplement market in an attempt to prevent false claims being made by manufacturers about the safety or efficacy of a product.

    They are considering overturning the 1994 Dietary Health and Supplement Act, which removed herbal remedies and nutritional supplements from the jurisdiction of the Food and Drug Administration.
