Australia moves to boost private health cover

Australians are being urged to “run for cover” by the federal government before a 1 July deadline or face higher, age related payments for private health insurance.
In the biggest private health insurance push in the country's history, the government aims to lock Australians into lifetime cover. It is the culmination of a “stick and carrot” approach to encourage more affluent people to return to the private health insurance funds that have suffered a large decline in membership since the 1950s.
